Gaming machines

If you hold a licence for sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises you have an automatic entitlement to provide two or less gaming machines on the premises, providing the machines fall into the relevant categories.

To make use of this entitlement you must pay a fee to formally notify the Licensing Authority (Council) that you wish to do so using the notification of gaming machine application form.

Applications for more than two machines must also be made to the Licensing Authority.

Members' clubs and certain categories of commercial clubs wishing to have up to 3 gaming machines must apply for a club machine permit. Club premises certificate holders may apply under the fast track procedure (Section C of the application form).

A club machine permit is subject to an annual fee. The first annual fee is due within 30 days of the permit coming into effect. Failure to pay the annual fee will result in cancellation of the permit.

Detailed information and advice on gaming machines, including machine categories, is available from the Gambling Commission.
