Community planting fund

There is £10,000 left in our community planting fund (or Green Infrastructure Improvement Fund) and we are welcoming applications until 30 July 2021. The amount will be shared between successful applicants. Previous applicants can apply again.

This on-off fund was open in 2019  to charities, community interest companies, parish councils, voluntary groups, schools, scouting and girlguiding groups, and other not-for-profit organisations, for a variety of projects including:

  • Community gardens or allotment associations

  • In-Bloom groups

  • New planters/flower troughs

  • Landscape infrastructure improvements: seating, shelters, raised beds, signs, sculptures and other landscaping features

  • any other projects that would contribute to making Elmbridge a green and brighter borough.

The fund cannot be used for planting or landscaping projects on private land.

Partnership funding is encouraged, but in some cases (i.e. for new groups), is not essential.

Applications are scored against the following criteria:

  • Contribution to create a more attractive, greener borough

  • Community involvement

  • Volunteer recruitment and retention

  • Long lasting, sustainable improvement

  • Biodiversity
