To vote in the by-election in either the Hersham Village or Weybridge St. George’s Hill wards you must:
- be registered to vote
- be 18 or over on 10 October
- be a British, Irish, Commonwealth or Qualifying European Union citizen
- be resident at an address in the UK
- not be legally excluded from voting
The deadline to register to vote was midnight on 24 September 2024.
Voter photo ID
You now need to bring photo ID to vote at a polling station. If you don't have accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate.

The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate was 5pm on 2 October 2024.
If you use postal voting, there is no voter ID requirement.
Poll cards
Every eligible registered voter will be sent a poll card with information about the election including your polling station. You will receive your poll card about a month before the election. If you have not received a poll card, or you have recently moved, you may not be registered to vote.

The deadline to apply to vote by proxy was 5pm on 2 October 2024.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 10 October 2024.
Remember to bring accepted voter photo ID.

How to complete the ballot paper
Always read the instructions on how to complete the ballot paper carefully, even if you have voted before. The ballot paper lists the name of each of the parties and candidates along with their party logo (if any).
Results
We will publish the election results once they have been declared.
