Weybridge streetscape improvements
Latest update 21 January 2020 - Surrey County Council Highways have given permission to temporarily suspend parking bays opposite the streetscape works due to some UK Power Network connection works that will last until 24 January 2020. Visitors can use alternative car parking at Waitrose, Monument Hill, Baker Street or Churchfields car park.
We have worked hard over the past two years to help the Weybridge Town Business Group to develop a co-ordinated programme of events, environmental improvements and community initiatives to support the vitality and viability of the town centre.
The next steps in supporting the high street in Weybridge will see improvements to the pavements from Elmgrove Road to Ship Yard (42 - 62 High Street), as the council delivers updates to the streetscape that have been funded by the Elmbridge Local Community Infrastructure Levy.
The redesign and resurfacing of the high street pedestrian area will create a flexible shared space that retains on-street parking and provides an outdoor space for markets and performances that can help enhance community life and bring more footfall into town.
Declutter and open up the high street
Resurface and extend the pavement
Retain on-street parking
Offer a flexible events space
Respect the conservation areas
Retain the same number of trees but replace with semi-mature trees (please see the FAQs below for background)
The proposals can be viewed via: The Weybridge streetscape proposals outline.
