Environmental Protection Act - Noise
The Environmental Protection Act 1990 defines, within England and Wales and Scotland, the fundamental structure and authority for waste management and control of emissions into the environment. Local Authorities are also responsible for control of noise, smoke and other nuisances.
Local authorities take noise problems very seriously and can take action if a statutory nuisance exists. Enforcement is based on government guidelines.
