A doorstep conman usually takes for form of a workman cold calling at a person's home to persuade the householder to have work done. The price quoted is usually very low, however, this dramatically changes when work is underway. Doorstep conmen are generally skilled charmers who target vulnerable people. They use false names, addresses and phone numbers and usually insist on payment being made in cash.
