Background Information

The Elmbridge Borough Council Website was launched in November 2003, it has had a number of refreshes to the design and we are continuously adding new services to the site to enhance the service provided through this channel. All web services are available 24 hours a day (unless we are undertaking essential maintenance and this is notified ahead of downtime). The |What's New area will show you new information and page updates.

The site also includes our "|My Elmbridge" facility where you can personalise the information shown to give details of services near to where you live/work, simply enter your house name/number and post code and see the wealth of information which relates to your property.

The website aims to provide information about the Council and its services to the Public and visitors of Elmbridge, in addition we include a |number of online services, which enable you to contact us direct through the website.

You will also notice that at the bottom of each page is an option to "email a question about this page", this facility will put you in direct contact with the Division who provide the information on the page you are viewing, and will enable your questions to be dealt with promptly.

The Website is designed and maintained by the Officers of the Council, this ensures that information given on the page is the same as the information you would receive on phoning or writing to us.

SOCITM 2009-10

Elmbridge Borough Council has recently been awarded 3 out of 4 stars for best practice on its website for useful and useable content such as: having an excellent post code search, top three for being free of jargon and one of very few to be error free. Elmbridge was the only local district in Surrey to achieve such a high score.

The SOCITM reviewers were most impressed with the 'My Elmbridge' function on the Council's website and commented: "There is an excellent postcode search which gives tons of information for each house, ranging from the councillor, the nearest school, the bin collection days and even the nearest planning applications. It is well laid out and well presented." To view the 'My Elmbridge' feature of the Council's website, visit the front page of our website.

The award was given by the Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) who have recently revised their scoring system.

SOCITM is the membership association for all Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) professionals working in Local Authorities and the Public and Third Sectors and suppliers to those sectors. It provides a widely respected forum for the promotion, use and development of ICT best practice. It is also plays a leading role in ICT-facilitated local government transformation in the UK.
