It's your chance to have a say about the way the public services in your area operate. ![]()
The people you elect are there on your behalf to make important decisions. If you have spare time, you may even want to take things one step further and become a councillor yourself.
In Surrey we operate a two tier system for the Council. Elmbridge Borough Council is responsible for services such as waste collection, housing, leisure and cultural services and planning, and Surrey County Council is responsible for services such as social services and education.
Elections for borough councillors are due in May each year (in a three year cycle) and for local county councillors elections will be held in May 2009.
In the meantime, Elmbridge Borough Council hosts three consultation panels for citizens, businesses and young people. These panels give you an opportunity to comment on how the Council deliver its services.
