Council Tax - Top Performing Council

The government league table for collection performance 2010-11 shows Elmbridge Council Tax as a top performer. We are the 3rd best collector out of the 11 authorities in Surrey with a collection rate of 98.9% yet we have the largest amount to collect in this group. The average national collection rate is 97.3%.

Every effort is made to collect the tax and rates due. This money helps fund the many services provided by Elmbridge Council, Surrey County Council, Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue Services and the Environment Agency. Money not collected, or not collected on time, can potentially result in higher Council Tax charges so it is important for the residents of the borough that as high a collection rate as possible is achieved.

It is also important that tax and rate payers receive a high quality and fair service. The Team in the Council responsible for collection of this money is the |Local Taxation Office based in the Civic Centre, Esher.
