Cashiers
In an effort to keep down the increase in the council tax charge and to balance its budget for 2009/10 and future years, the Council has regrettably found it necessary to close the Cashier's Office.
This means we no longer have a facility (and so are unable) to accept payments in notes and coins.
The Cash Office is now closed permanently from 1 July 2009.
Whilst we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you, this is an opportunity to consider using more environmentally friendly ways to pay. Please see all the alternative ways you can pay below or by reading our leaflet: |Closure of Cashiers Office at Civic Centre. For Council Tax and Business Rates |why not consider paying by direct debit.
Alternative ways to pay
Direct Debit
If you make regular payments for a council service (e.g. Council Tax) why not ask the service if they offer Direct Debit? We can automatically collect agreed payments.
Our website*
|Available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is completely secure. If you are unsure how to pay using your computer why not try ours in main reception? We can show you if you are uncertain then you can use your home PC or, for example, a PC in your local library.
Telephone *
01372 474020 is our dedicated 24 hour automated telephone line for payments for a limited number of services. Please see our |main Telephone payment page for details of services that accept automated payments and/or accept Assisted Telephone payments.
* You will need a debit or credit card to use these services. If you use a credit card there will be a small charge - the amount is advised at time of payment.
Home or telephone banking
Ask the Council Service for our bank details (if not shown on your invoice).
By cheque*
Like many organisations, we prefer people to make payment by electronic methods rather than by cheque, if possible, as it is kinder to the environment. If you do not have a bank account or credit/debit card - you can buy a postal order* from your local post office. If you are unable to have a normal bank account (eg bankrupts) most banks offer a "basic bank account" that usually allows payment by direct debit/standing order. For more information please ask us for a leaflet or ring the Financial Services Authority on 03005005000 or |go to their website
*Cheque and postal order payments should be made out to Elmbridge Borough Council and sent to the Civic Centre (please write on reverse your name/address and the reference number you are paying for).
