The Council protects trees in a number of ways. If you want to work on a protected tree you will need to formally apply.

Trees can become dangerous or a nuisance for many different reasons. Depending on their location and the type of damage there are various ways of dealing with them.

Pruning trees often causes more harm than good. Good advice is the best start to care for your trees. The Council provides lists of arboricultural specialists and sources of further information on pests and diseases.

If you want to build near a tree you will need to provide certain information with you planning application.

|Trees by Roads, Rivers and in Parks and Commons
Most trees by roads and on verges are owned by Surrey County Council. Most trees in public parks are owned or managed by Elmbridge Borough Council.
