Local Development Scheme
What is the Local Development Scheme?
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the scope and timetable for producing the |Local Development Framework (LDF). It explains what Local Development Documents (LDD) are going to be produced, by whom and when, with key dates from initial preparation to adoption.
It also explains the purpose and scope of each LDD and the role of each within the LDF. In addition, it explains the strategic and local planning context within which the LDF is being produced, including the changeover arrangements from the adopted Local Plan to the LDF.
Where we are at?
The Council has prepared a new LDS which sets out a 3 year timetable (2009-12) for the preparation of the LDDs which include Development Plan Documents (DPD) and Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD). It takes account of the new procedures and milestones set out in the new planning regulations and PPS12 which include scoping, publication, submission and adoption. The LDS was approved by the Government Office for the South East on 19 May 2009. It can be viewed below:
Specific milestone dates for the Core Strategy are as follows:
Publication - December 2009
Submission - March 2010
Adoption - December 2010
Further consultation is currently taking place on the |Core Strategy Preferred Approach and Final Options prior to these formal stages.
