Amendments to the The Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and new Planning Policy Statement 12 were published in June 2008. They set out changes to the way in which LDFs are prepared. Significantly, for Development Plan Documents (DPD) the new regulations remove the requirement for a formal Preferred Options stage. Instead, local authorities are required to proceed straight from consultation on options to submission. Once the submission document has been prepared a six-week consultation should be held, following which it would be submitted to Government.
To take account of these new procedures, we will be producing a new Local Development Scheme (LDS), which sets the timetable for the LDF.
Further consultation will take place with key stakeholders between now and submission to assist in developing final policies.
