|Core Strategy DPD - **Important Update**
The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State in March 2010 for examination by an independent Planning Inspector, who will decide whether the document is legally compliant, sound and fit for purpose. |Find out more about the Core Strategy including an important update July 2010.

||Local Plan - Saved Policies
Existing planning policies in the Replacement Local Plan 2000 and Supplementary Planning Guidance/Documents.

||Local Development Framework
Under the Government's development planning system the Local Development Framework (LDF) will replace the Local Plan. It will guide planning and development in Elmbridge to 2026. The LDF is made up of a number of important planning documents, the key one being the |Elmbridge Core Strategy.

||National and Regional Planning - **Update**
On the 6 July 2010 the Secretary of State announced the revocation of Regional Spatial Strategies with immediate effect. The Secretary of State has also made changes to Planning Policy Statement 3: Housing in relation to the classification of garden land and housing density.

||Thames Basin Heath Special Protection Area - **Consultation now closed**
Between 12 July and 9 August 2010 the Draft Addendum to the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area Interim Mitigation Strategy for Elmbridge was available for consultation. The Draft Addendum relates to the addition of a tariff for Strategic Access Management and Monitoring.
