Minor applications - 88% were determined within 8 weeks

Planning Appeals
In this quarterly period a total of 23 appeals were decided. Of these 16 were dismissed and 7 were allowed meaning a total council success rate of 44% compared to the government target of 40%. The breakdown of these decisions show that 17 appeals resulted from delegated decisions. Of these 12 were dismissed (71%) and 5 allowed (29%). Planning Committee decisions resulted in 6 appeals, of which 4 were dismissed (67%) and 2 (33%) were allowed.

It is a statutory requirement that all planning authorities determine applications within either 13 weeks, for Major Planning Applications, or 8 Weeks, for Minor and other applications. The Government has set planning authorities the target of ensuring that 60% of Major Applications are determined within this statutory period, 72% of Minor Applications and 80% of Other types of application.
Elmbridge Borough Council places great importance on the achievement of these targets and sets itself significantly higher performance goals. The chart below shows the Council's performance in reaching these goals in the past year. As can be seen the Council consistently performs higher than the national targets. The Council prioritises these goals and is proud of the service we have, and aim to continue, to provide to our customers and users.
