Design and Conservation Awards 2007
The Elmbridge 2007 Design and Conservation Awards ceremony was held at the Civic Centre on the evening of Thursday, 22 March 2007 and attended by over 70 people.
This was the fifth series of awards, which have been organised by Planning Services. They seek to recognise and reward completed developments, which make an important contribution to the visual quality of the Borough's built environment and heritage and which preserve and improve its character and appearance.
The event was introduced by Martin Parker, former Head of Town Planning with a talk by Dr Nigel Barker from English Heritage. Councillor Mrs Shweta Kapadia, Chairman of the Planning Committee and the Elmbridge Design and Historic Environment Champion read out the awards while the Worshipful Mayor of Elmbridge presented the winning entries with plaques and certificates. There were two award categories for Design and Conservation and the winners are listed below.

Design Award for a Large Schemes, Joint Winners

A modern steel and glass building which the judges felt had set a high standard for design and the relationship to the Green Belt and Conservation area.

Design Award for a Small Scheme

A detached two storey custom designed house, a contemporary interpretation of a traditional German post and beam house. The house has been designed to reduce energy consumption by the use of passive solar gain and for this the project also receives a Special Commendation for Environmental Sustainability

Conservation Awards for the Restoration/Refurbishment of Residential Listed Building Joint Winners
|Hatchford Park, Ockham Lane, Cobham
A faithful restoration and conversion of a Grade II listed Victorian Mansion into 13 apartments and it's Coach House into 3 apartments. The judges were impressed with the restoration done using historic photographs as reference.

An extension of contemporary design and using modern materials but nevertheless fitting well into the context of the Victorian house it extends and making a positive contribution to the East Molesey Old Village Conservation Area,
