On 23 July 2008 the Council adopted a regime of charging for advice given prior to applications for planning permission. This regime comes into effect on all requests for advice received after 1 August 2008.
The charges payable are for advice about whether or not planning permission is likely to be granted for a particular proposed development:
Minor (1-9 Dwellings or 50-1000sqm commercial)
£100 per enquiry for written response
£200 per enquiry for a meeting
Major (10-49 Dwellings or 1000-5000sqm commercial)
£250 per enquiry for written response
£500 per enquiry for a meeting
Strategic (50 plus dwellings or 5000sqm plus commercial)
£500 per enquiry for written response
£1000 per enquiry for a meeting
Other (Householder Extensions or up to 50sqm commercial)
No charge
All charges will be subject to Value Added Tax at the standard rate, per the Value Added Tax Act 1994
No charges are payable for advice given to people extending their own home, or anyone seeking advice only as to whether or not planning permission is required for a particular development. At the discretion of the Head of Town Planning no charge will be sort from charities and other non-profit making organisations or statutory bodies and other government authorities.
