New Street Names

Developers will be contacted at an early stage in the development regarding allocation of a new street name. The developer will be asked to supply three road names. These names will then be submitted to the ward councillors for consideration. Please see our |Street Naming and Numbering Policy for guidance.

If you are a developer and wish to apply for a new street name, please |contact Street Naming and Numbering.

Housing in a new street will always be allocated a street number and if required can also be assigned a name. However the number will always be the primary identifier.

We inform Royal Mail, utilities, emergency services and internal council departments of the new addresses.

Royal Mail will issue the postcode for the new address. If you have any queries regarding the post code please contact them directly on 08456 011 110 or email addressmaintenance@royalmail.com

Please note that Royal Mail will hold the new address on their Not Yet Built part of the Postal Address File (PAF). Therefore the address will not be visible on any online databases. When the work has been completed we will ask Royal Mail to make the address live. If you find you need the addresses live before that, then please contact the Street Naming and Numbering.
