Street Naming and Numbering
Elmbridge Borough Council is responsible for the naming and numbering of new or existing streets and buildings within the borough boundaries. The council carries out this statutory function under Sections 17, 18 and 19 of the Public Health Act of 1925. This legislation requires the Local Authority to prepare street naming and numbering schemes and to maintain a good standard of street nameplates. Both are essential for the efficient functioning of postal and emergency services as well as for the convenience and safety of the general public.
If you wish to change the name of an existing property, or name or number new developments, you will need to |Contact Us.
All new names for streets need to go through a consultation procedure that takes several weeks. It is therefore advisable to contact the council at the earliest possible stage of a proposal, preferably when building work commences, and before a name has been marketed.
