The Walton-on-Thames Trading Alliance in partnership with Elmbridge Borough Council have visited the ‘Love Oxted’ team to learn from neighbouring towns as we continue our work to ensure Walton is a great place to live and work.
Representatives from Walton met with counterparts in Oxted to share ideas for events, town improvements, safety and developing a long-term vision for Walton.
The visit generated lots of new ideas that can build on the work the Walton-on-Thames Trading Alliance has been doing with the Council to improve the streetscene, offer 3 hours of free parking every Saturday, clean up the town with regular litter picks and support businesses with funding for shop fronts and marketing projects.
Joanna Gordon, Managing Director of the Walton-on-Thames Trading Alliance said “The visit was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas and learn from another thriving Surrey town. We have come back with lots of new ideas to support our business plan over the next 12 months.”
Councillor Mary Marshall, Portfolio holder for Community and Corporate Development said “It’s wonderful to see our local business groups supporting the Council’s work to help ensure our town centres continue to thrive. Working together we can continue to see that Walton is a really pleasant place to live and work.”
