Elmbridge Borough Council is encouraging residents to shop local by supporting Small Business Saturday on 2 December.
Now in its fifth year, Small Business Saturday is a national campaign aimed at encouraging people to support small businesses in their communities.
To celebrate the day shoppers will be able to park for free in all Elmbridge Borough Council run town centre and village car parks making it even easier to shop local. Residents will be able to explore our great independent retailers, enjoy special offers from businesses and get that festive feeling from community events such as the Weybridge and Claygate Christmas lights switch on.
Councillor Andrew Davis, Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport said: ‘I am delighted to support Small Business Saturday and I am pleased to say that there will be no charges in our town and village car parks on the day. I encourage our residents to come out and support our local businesses and high streets not just on Small Business Saturday but also in the lead up to Christmas and beyond.”
Councillor Mary Marshall, Portfolio Holder for Community and Corporate Development said: “This is another great example of how your Council supports our small local businesses within the Borough. The Enterprise Elmbridge initiative has helped over 70 businesses through our business masterclass series and awarded £663,000 to over 250 local businesses through the Elmbridge Civic Improvement Fund. We have also supported 33 new businesses to launch through our start up grants and has helped our local business groups to invest in our High Streets”.
