Elmbridge Borough Council and Walton Charity have joined forces for the second year running to provide additional money to the voluntary sector. After a highly successful first round of the Partnership Fund in 2016 both organisations felt that the Partnership Fund should continue.
Last year the Fund helped support the Veterans Support Association, a newly established group in Elmbridge, to purchase sporting equipment because the Association’s members have grown and there was a need to increase the variety of sessions and many members have benefitted.
This year the Fund will be targeted at organisations which are core funded by the Council, but still has the same aim of enabling organisations to become more sustainable for the future. By providing this type of funding, the successful organisations will be able to build on internal resources to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Councillor Mrs Ruth Lyon, Portfolio Holder for Social Affairs explained, “The Council is committed to ensuring, where possible, the voluntary sector in Elmbridge is fit for the future and I am delighted to say that, for the second year running, we are working in partnership with Walton Charity so that we can enhance our support for the local community”
Jackie Lodge, Chief Executive of Walton Charity said, “We are proud to work with Elmbridge Council to provide grant funding to support and enable these key local community groups. Funding will be to develop the capacity and sustainability of these groups to ensure that they can continue to deliver vital services.”
