Play Tennis In Your Local Park And Join the Elmbridge Local League!

Have you been meaning to get back into tennis or want to improve your skills by playing matches with other adults? If so, the Elmbridge Tennis League is for you. This mixed singles league (for men and women) is open to adults (aged 18 years and over) of all standards. Everyone is welcome!Woman playing tennis

Players are organised into groups of 6-8, contact details are circulated, and everyone gets in touch with each other to arrange their own matches. It is totally flexible and you play when it suits you. Matches can be played on any Elmbridge Tennis court that suits all parties.

Every player who completes three matches by the half way mark is posted a free can of balls. Winners of their group win 20 and a certificate.

Everyone who joins can also get a free British Tennis Membership worth 25. This gives you a rating, so you can measure your progress against other people (not as scary as it sounds), and get automatic entry to the Wimbledon Ballot.

As ever, all Council owned tennis courts are free to turn up and play recreationally on. You can |find your nearest court on our sport pages.

|Councillor Jan Fuller, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Cultural Services, said: "Whilst the council continues to encourage free recreational tennis on our tennis courts, this alternative is for those wishing a more structured competitive edge in 2012. Whilst the main purpose of the league is fun and enjoyment, a bit of competition usually brings out the best in everyone".

Round two runs from Monday 23 April to Sunday 17 June 2012. To join, please |visit the Local Tennis League website.

The cost is 12 (10 students / concessions). Please note the deadline to join is Friday 20 April 2012
