|Councillor Jan Fuller, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Cultural Services, said, "While winning trophies is important, the major benefit of The P&G Surrey Youth Games is that, as a high profile local event, they give the opportunity to youngsters to compete at a great level in a multi-sport environment at an early age. It will provide competition experience and hopefully be a stepping-stone for those young people who want to pursue a sporting career. In this very exciting year for sport in general, The P&G Surrey Youth Games are the sort of competition young people want to be part of so why don't you give your children a chance to be part of Team Elmbridge and fly the flag for their Borough?"
