Mayor hosts ladies' luncheon

11 October 2016

The Mayor, Councillor Mrs Tannia Shipley, hosted a very successful Charity Ladies’ Luncheon at Woodlands Park Hotel on Friday 23 September raising funds for her chosen charities, Elmbridge Community Link (ECL) and Concern and Help for East Elmbridge Retired (CHEER).

The Mayor was pleased to welcome 100 ladies from across Surrey and Elmbridge Borough, including Councillors, Mayors and Mayoresses from Surrey Boroughs, local businesswomen and friends.

Guests were enthralled by the speaker, author and broadcaster, Anne Sebba, who spoke about her new book ‘Les Parisiennes’.  Anne related a little about how the women of Paris lived, loved and died in the 1940s. At the end of the afternoon Anne signed and sold her books giving a generous donation to the Mayor’s charities.

Guests very generously purchased raffle tickets and the Mayor was delighted to raise over £2,000 for ECL and CHEER.  The Mayor was very grateful for the continued support from Woodlands Park Hotel, Surrey Life, Procter and Gamble, Buds & Blooms Esher and all those who kindly donated prizes and particularly to Anne Sebba for giving up her time.

The Mayor said, “It was a wonderful afternoon and I really appreciated the contributions made to help raise funds for my chosen charities, ECL and CHEER.  My guests thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and I was delighted that it was such a success.”
