Lights, camera, action!

Lights, camera, action!

28 September 2016

It might not be Hollywood but an exciting new opportunity has arisen at the Cobham Centre for the Community. We are looking for retired people seeking a new challenge in film production.

The Freewheelers Theatre and Media Company is running film-making workshops at the Cobham Centre for the Community on Thursdays from 1pm-3pm, from 6 October 2016.  As part of the workshops there are opportunities to become involved with acting, writing and film production. The workshops are specifically designed for retired people, they are free and no experience is necessary.

The Freewheelers Theatre and Media Company was recently awarded a grant from the Iris Simmons Community Awards and are now delighted to be putting on these fun and interesting workshops for retired people.

The Freewheelers Theatre and Media Company has been working in Cobham for over two years delivering dance and media workshops for people with a range of disabilities and are now offering film-making workshops to older people living in the local area.

Councillor Ruth Lyon, Portfolio Holder of Social Affairs commented;
“Our seven Centres for the Community offer a marvellously diverse range of support, advice and activities for the older and more vulnerable members of our community, as well as their families and carers.”

She continued; “The film-making workshops at the Cobham Centre is just another example of our commitment to ensuring that older people continue to feel integral to the community.”

If you are interested in these workshops, call Freewheelers Theatre and Media Company on 07599 077044 (Jenni) or 01932 860950 (Viv). The workshops will be held at the Cobham Centre for the Community, Oakdene Road, Cobham, KT11 2LY.
