Sale of Stompond Lane completed

Elmbridge Borough Council has completed the sale of a 7.8 acre residential development site in Walton-on-Thames to London Square for  £23.165 million.

The site is currently vacant following the relocation of Walton and Hersham Football Club and Walton Athletic Club to the new state-of-the- art, Council owned facility, Xcel Sports Hub at Waterside Drive, Walton-on-Thames,

The contract of sale was agreed in November 2015 on a subject to planning basis. Following the grant of planning permission and conditions of sale being met, the sale was completed on 28 February, 2018.

The Council understands that London Square intends to commence the development of the site in May 2018.

The Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council , Councillor Stuart Selleck said;  “The Council relocated the two clubs from Stompond Lane to the purpose-built Xcel Sports Hub which has been built by the Council using the sale proceeds of Stompond Lane, at no extra cost to the council tax payer. This sale of the site represents the end of a long journey to deliver better facilities for 4 local sports clubs as well ensuring we achieved best value for Elmbridge council tax payers”.
