Over 100 Elmbridge businesses attend
Organised by Elmbridge Borough Council, the business leaders conference was held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge on 23 February and brought together a range of businesses from start-ups to multi-nationals from across the Borough.
The keynote address was delivered by The Right Honourable Philip Hammond MP who offered a unique local and national perspective as MP for Runnymede and Weybridge and Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Delegates also heard from Geoff French CBE about the work of the Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership to drive economic growth, opportunities related to the Surrey 5G project from Dr Mike Short, Vice President of Public Affairs at Telefonica and the benefits of investing in staff and young people with Graham Nicholson, Executive Managing Director at Tony Gee and Partners based in Esher. Elmbridge businesses were given the chance to promote themselves in the business showcase zone offering local firms the opportunity to make new contacts and drive new business.
Councillor Stuart Selleck, Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council said: “The event was a great success with an excellent range of speakers and a chance for start-ups, growth firms and multi-nationals to come together and network. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and this is another good example of our work to support local start-ups and existing businesses to reach their full potential.”
The business leaders conference was developed as part of the Enterprise Elmbridge programme which has directly supported over 60 local businesses with £260,000 in business grants since April 2015, supported 120 businesses through our business masterclasses and helped attract over £110,000 in external funding to support our High Streets.
