Funding available for charities and local groups
Got a great idea that supports the local community in Elmbridge but lack of money is holding you back? Do you run a grass roots community project and need funding to cover your running costs? Elmbridge Borough Council recognises the vital role that voluntary sector organisations play in the Borough and is inviting applications to the Annual Grants fund. The grant is aimed at helping people who are in need and local organisations are well placed to do this.
The voluntary, community and faith sector is invited to apply for funding from 1 November for the financial year 2017/18 and small, medium or large organisations are welcome to apply for purchasing equipment or project costs. In particular, priority will be given to projects that support vulnerable groups in the local community.
Previously, successful grants have been given to projects supporting older people who are socially isolated, veterans who are at risk of isolation and detachment in the community after service life and carers who need support to continue with their caring role.
Councillor Mrs Ruth Lyon, Portfolio Holder for Social Affairs, explained “Elmbridge Borough Council is committed to supporting the Voluntary and Community Sector. We are looking for grant applications from local groups who are supporting residents who need additional help. We also want to encourage applications from organisations who have not previously applied.”
The Voluntary Sector Support Team and Voluntary Action Elmbridge are running a Voluntary Sector Forum on 9 December between 2.30 and 5.30pm where funders will be present to advise on their grants. It is also an excellent opportunity to network with other local organisations in the Borough and receive updates on the sector.
For an application form or to find out more about the Forum, please contact the Voluntary Sector Support Office, Community Support Services, Elmbridge Borough Council, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 9SD, telephone 01372 474543 or email email@example.com. You can download the application form from the voluntary sector funding page.
