The most wonderful time of the year is on the way! At Christmas, there is always so much happening in Elmbridge, and we’re here to provide you with a handy guide.
Councillor Robin Stephens, Portfolio Holder for Planning, Enterprise and Local Economy comments: "It’s wonderful to live in Elmbridge at Christmas, as our high streets and town centres become hubs of festivity, and the events that take place are great to enjoy with our families and friends.
"There are also a wide range of independent retailers to support when buying your unique and beautiful gifts for your loved ones. It’s a great time of year to commit to shopping local, and free town centre parking in our car parks will also be taking place once again."
Love free parking on Small Business Saturday
Free all-day parking will be taking place on Small Business Saturday, Saturday 2 December in all pay and display car parks in all town centres and villages across Elmbridge. Start off your Christmas shopping the right way and shop local!
Our small businesses across the borough are essential for our high streets to thrive, and for our communities to flourish. On Small Business Saturday, we will be proud to support them as we celebrate their contribution and customer service.
In the run up to the event, on our social media platforms we will be promoting a few of the best small businesses in the borough. If you are a small business who would like to get involved, please email: communications@elmbridge.gov.uk and we will be in touch.
Love Elmbridge events at Christmas
Christmas is always a truly magical time in Elmbridge; with a variety of events on offer for all the family, there is so much to see and do:
- Walton Festival of Light – 25 November 2023
This event is back again for another year! Walton Festival of Light 2023 will include a Christmas market, performances from local schools and community groups and the light procession leading to the ‘Town Tree’ switch on.
- Cobham One-derland (Previously Cobham Extravaganza) – 24 November 2023
Previously known as the Cobham Extravaganza, the Cobham One-derland will bring you all the same festivities but bigger and brighter than ever before! Involving late night shopping, festive food and drink, live entertainment, children’s fairground rides, Santa’s Grotto, the lantern parade and much more!
Walton and Cobham events are organised by the Business Improvement Districts in the borough which Elmbridge Borough Council helped to develop as part of our work to support high streets and businesses across the borough.

Love Sustainable Elmbridge at Christmas
Our commitment to a Sustainable Elmbridge is stronger than ever at Christmas, and we always recommend planning for a sustainable Christmas where possible. This may involve choosing recyclable wrapping paper and cards, or shopping at eco-friendly refill stores or for second-hand items at charity shops.
