Recent developments have seen the Elmbridge International Basketball Club (Seniors) merge with the Elmbridge Junior Basketball Club. This is to consolidate both clubs efforts to gain Clubmark accreditation.
The club are currently recruiting new volunteers, coaches, club development and administration positions to help this growing club become sustainable.

Elmbridge Borough Council has a Sports Development Team within Leisure and Cultural Services, responsible for the development, delivery and review of the Council's Sports Development Strategy.
They organise and develop, both directly and in partnership with others, a wide range of sporting activities including courses, coaching, local competitions and special events - for example, the hugely popular Elmbridge sports festival and Surrey Youth Games. The team supports the implementation and delivery of the Active Surrey County Sports Partnership Programme and the delivery of other youth sport development initiatives. They are also available to provide advice and guidance on a variety of issues ranging from club development to funding advice and opportunities to promotion of sport and physical activity in the Borough.

Elmbridge Borough Council has developed a new Strategy for Sport and Healthy Lifestyles 2007 - 2010 which has been approved by both the Council and the key partners.
Elmbridge Borough Council recognises the role that sport and healthy living styles has to play in peoples lives today and has therefore a strong commitment to encourage, develop and enable everybody in the community to have the opportunity for sports participation throughout the Borough and to live a healthier lifestyle.
