The |Sports Development Team can give funding advice for individual athletes, but it is very difficult to get funding as an individual. The best ways to get funding assistance is through contacting your sports' National Governing Body, your local sports club or through |Sportsaid. An individual athlete can always try and get a local sponsor, something which they would have greater luck getting than us.
Most of our work is with grass-roots sports and increasing sports participation, through Surrey Youth Games, SHOUT!, Tennis For Free and working on club and coach development. We also do a lot of social inclusion and youth diversionary work. Lastly, you can look at the |Active Surrey funding directory.
The Sports Council give £10,000 in grants annually to sporting individuals and sports club. The maximum that can be applied for from an individual is £250. The application process is very straight forward and applications are taken between February and April of each year
