Building Basketball in Elmbridge

We are please to announce that we have been successful in a bid to get Sport England funding to grow basketball in Elmbridge. The Sports Development Team has secured substantial funding to deliver 3 separate projects to benefit young people of Elmbridge. Our target is to enable at least 350 young people in a year to access high quality basketball coaching, either after school, at the Elmbridge Basketball Club or as part of the Community Action Days run by Community Safety Partnerships. The three projects are:test

  1. Primary Schools Project
  2. Elmbridge Basketball Club - Extra coach support
  3. Community engagement project - as part of the Community Action Days.

Primary Schools project

We will be contacting each primary school to offer 5 weeks of high quality coaching after school, sessions will be an hour long and will use our brand new portable basketball hoops, new balls and kit. These sessions will be targeting year 5 and 6 students. We will be delivering the project at 4 primary schools per half term. Please ask your PE co-ordinator for more details.

Elmbridge Basketball Club project

With the new interest created from the primary schools project we have funding to employ an additional coach at the junior basketball club, which runs at Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex.

The junior basketball training sessions are on:

  • Mondays 6.00 pm -7.00 pm
  • Saturdays 10.00 am - 11.00 am
  • Sunday mornings - matches
  • Venue: Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Complex, Waterside Drive, Walton on Thames.
  • £4 per session, payable termly.

The Elmbridge Basketball club is a fast growing club split into juniors and seniors.

If you are aged between 6 and 15 years old, why not get involved in one of the most exciting and fast-paced sports around? Fancy having a go? All abilities are welcome, just turn up and play.
