Brooklands Community Park in Elmbridge
The park is an ambitious project that provides residents and other visitors with 60-acres of stunning country park and a riverside walkway as part of an agreement between the Council and Mercedes-Benz.
It allows everyone to enjoy the beautiful riverside walks, picturesque landscaping and open parkland -perfect for picnics and walking. The Park is situated within the historic Brooklands site, the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation. There are sections of the former Brooklands motor racing circuit located adjacent to and accessible from the Park. Heritage boards are currently being formulated for display to reveal the history and layout of the area. Improved riverside access and landscaping of the river Wey, footpaths and cycle ways will make the Community Park an ideal sanctuary for informal recreation. Seating, picnic benches, a play area,skateboard park, BMX track and multi-court play area suitable for 5-aside football and basketball are all provided. Open grassland, existing vegetation and new planting all add to the nature conservation potential and interest of the site.
The Community Park opens up this important location to give broad expansive views of the Brooklands circuit and the former aerodrome runway as not seen for a number of years.
