Elmbridge Museum has a dedicated local studies room, brimming with photographs, maps, reference books and other research resources.

• Ordnance Survey maps (early 1800s-1940, 1996)
• Most post 1940 maps are held in storage. These can be made available by prior arrangement.
• An extensive photographic archive.
• Census returns (1841-1891).
• Land tax returns (1780-1915).
• Electoral registers (1832-1915).
• Parish registers (various dates).
• Copies of the Surrey Herald on microfilm (Feb 1979 - Sep 1999)
• Bound paper copies of the Surrey Herald (1920, 1923-27, 1929-33, 1936-39) are held in storage. These can be made available by prior arrangement.
• Information archive including press cuttings.
• Reference book collection.
