Circuit classes at:

In order to be accepted onto the exercise referral scheme, approval from your healthcare professional is needed, along with information regarding the reason for referral. All referring healthcare professionals need to be registered to the scheme. To check if a healthcare specialist is registered, contact the |Health Development Officer.
What do I do next:
- Discuss your suitability for referral onto the scheme with your healthcare professional
- Make an appointment for an assessment by contacting the |Health Development Officer.
- Wear loose and comfortable clothing with suitable gym shoes when you attend your appointment
- Don't forget to bring your referral form!
What happens at the assessment?
- At the first appointment an exercise referral specialist assesses your fitness levels. These results, along with the reason for referral, enables a gym or circuit programme to be designed for you.
- You are then shown how to use the gym equipment
- Your programme will be designed according to your specific needs and ability so you should not feel out of your depth.
- You can then attend supervised gym sessions for a reduced rate, or circuit classes at specified times.
- At the end of approximately 20 weeks you are given a fitness reassessment and reduced rate membership of the gym is offered, or you can continue with your circuit classes.
- You can also attend unsupervised swim sessions at the Xcel complex at a reduced rate.
