Liquid History

Liquid History is a self-guided audio trail along the river Thames in Molesey. The trail contains original interviews with people who have lived and worked along the river in Elmbridge, and is narrated by historian and local houseboat resident Dr Toby Butler.

Cigarette IslandThe trail is just over a mile long and starts at Cigarette Island, near Hampton Court railway station. Try this self-guided audio walk along one of the most picturesque stretches of the Thames. As you discover the locks, houseboats communities and the history of the area, you will hear recordings from people who live and work on the Thames. See the lock in action, have a ride on one of the last river ferries and discover how horse racing, suffragettes and gambling have made history in Hurst Park. Please allow approximately one hour for the trail. Toilets facilities and refreshments are available along the route.

Walk jog or cycle this trail. For health benefits you need to participate in an activity that will make your breath deeper and faster while making you feel warmer. Research suggests that if you do 10,000 accumulated walking steps every day it can lead to significant health benefits.

All you need to experience this audio trail is a personal CD or MP3 player. |Contact Leisure for a free cd.
