Did you know that loft or cavity wall insulation can cut your energy bills by hundreds of pounds a year, and a new partnership between Elmbridge Borough Council and Action Surrey means getting insulation is now cheaper and easier than it's ever been. The partnership is offering all Elmbridge residents the best deal they can get for insulation - you'll get the lowest price and if you're eligible for discounts, you could get the service for free.

If you don't know what measures you need...then why not get a Free Home Energy Audit?
Action Surrey is offering free Home Energy Audits to its residents. If you are interested and would like to have a free initial Home Energy Audit, please call on 0800 783 2503 or visit the |Action Surrey website. Once a visit has been made, energy efficiency measures will be recommended to you which will provide you with the most appropriate cost savings and energy savings. (If you are a tenant, please note that it will usually be necessary to have your landlord's agreement to install energy saving measures in your home.)
Volunteer to become a Home Energy Auditor
If you would like to become more involved, Elmbridge Borough Council, in partnership with Action Surrey are recruiting enthusiastic volunteers, providing free training on home energy auditing. Volunteers will be trained to provide advice on energy efficiency measures to residents who express an interest in reducing their home's energy consumption. All volunteers will have to undergo a CRB check before undertaking an Audit. Warmth for 1000 - External Wall Insulation Scheme
Warmth for 1000 in partnership with Elmbridge Borough Council is able to offer funding for External Wall Insulation to be installed in either owner occupied or privately rented properties within the Borough of Elmbridge. Applicants are required to be on certain benefits.
The amount of funding available depends on a number of factors relating to property type and size as well as the current heating fuel.

Warm Front
The Warm Front Scheme makes your home warmer, healthier and more energy efficient. The Warm Front Scheme provides heating and insulation improvements to households on certain income-related benefits living in properties that are poorly insulated and/or do not have a working central heating system. Qualifying households can get improvements worth up to £3,500 (£6,000 where oil central heating and other alternative technologies are recommended).
Grants are available for improvements such as:
- Loft insulation
- Draughtproofing
- Cavity Wall Insulation
- Hot water tank insulation
- Gas, electric, LPG or oil heating
- Glass-fronted fire

Energy Efficiency Grants
Grants of up to £1,000 are offered by the Council in addition to the national grant programmes such as Warm Front (see above). Applicants will be expected to apply for the national grants initially, where they are eligible. In consultation with the Private Sector Housing Manager, grants can be provided for condensing boilers or other energy efficiency measures considered appropriate. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the high demand for loft and cavity wall insulation, please expect to go onto a waiting list when you apply for home insulation. Also please note that Warm Front Grants regrettably are not available to housing association tenants.
