Terms of Reference:
1. To review current water usage in the Civic Centre and the Council's wider estate and to explore ways of increasing efficiency with the aim of setting an excellent example and promoting good practice in the community.
2. To investigate the feasibility of a strategic approach to water management in the Council, working within the wider context of sustainability. The panel will aim to raise awareness of water efficiency in the Council and will recommend ambitious but achievable targets for continuous improvement.
3. The Panel will invite comment and ideas on the review from residents and, where appropriate, will invite interested external parties to contribute. The Panel will also recommend public engagement initiatives in order to raise the profile of water issues in the wider community.
4. In carrying out this work, the Panel will consider both the importance of achieving value for money and the Council's responsibilities towards the environment.
Meeting 1 - 5th December 2006
An introduction to the review. Members elected a chairman, drew up a terms of reference and discussed areas for investigation.
Meeting 2 - 17th January 2007
Members looked at the Council's current use of water and discussed possible ways forward.
