Empowering you to deal with noise

Image of online noise toolkit

The Council's out of hours noise service has been withdrawn. As a result there will no longer be the option of an 'out of hours' (evening, weekend and bank holiday) officer visit following a call about noise nuisance.

However, enhancements to our website now aim to empower local residents to deal with noise out of office hours. This takes the form of a new quick guide that covers what to do at the time, reporting your noise complaint, gathering and uploading audio/visual evidence, witness statements and template letters as well as lots more - all part of our new 'online toolkit' for dealing with noise.

Evidence of noise nuisance is key to progressing complaints about noise. Noise complaints can occur at any time of the day or night and it's not always possible for an Environmental Health Officer to witness the noise. As the person being subjected to the noise you can gather audio or video evidence at the time, which will help progress your case. This evidence, when combined with completed nuisance record sheets and witness statements (where appropriate), really help the Council's Environmental Health Officers to fully understand your complaint and the impact it has on you and your family. To assist you, your evidence (audio or visual, nuisance record sheets and witness statements) can now be uploaded using our online noise reporting form.
