Taxi Ranks
Hackney Carriages (or taxis, which have a sign saying 'taxi') can be hired from ranks without prior booking.
Minicabs (private hire cars) do not have a taxi sign and must by law - and for important safety reasons - be pre-booked, and therefore cannot be hailed.
