Animal Boarding Establishment Licence
Under the terms of the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963, anyone who carries on a business boarding cats (cattery) or dogs (kennels) requires a licence from their Local Authority.
Environmental Health & Licensing, in conjunction with a consultant veterinary surgeon, will inspect any premises before granting a licence. The licence is subject to fees, and the number of dogs and cats that may be accommodated will be specified on the licence along with other specific conditions.
Once a licence has been granted and the appropriate fee paid, annual inspections will be performed prior to renewal of the licence.
