The Food Safety Act 1990 (as Amended)
The Food Safety Act 1990 (as amended) aims to:
- ensure that all food reaches expectations in terms of nature, substance and quality and is not misleadingly presented;
- provide legal powers and specify offences in relation to public health and consumers' interest; and
- enable Great Britain to fulfil it's part of the UK's responsibilities in the European Union (EU).
Responsibility for enforcement within the borough of Elmbridge is shared between:
- Elmbridge Borough Council's |Environmental Health & Licensing (for food safety requirements)
- |Surrey County Council (for trading standards offences).
