Garden Waste Collection Service
The fortnightly garden waste collection service is an easy way for you to compost your garden waste. If home composting isn't practical or if you have too much garden waste, then this convenient collection service is the answer.
What can I put in my garden waste bin? |
If you use the sack service, please distribute the weight of your garden waste evenly between the two sacks. The collector struggles with overfilled and heavy sacks, which can lead to injury. If you struggle to lift them, then so will they. Please also ensure that the garden waste does not exceed the top of the two sacks as this can make them difficult to manoeuvre.
How much does it cost?
You can choose to have your garden waste collected from either 1
or 2 brown-top wheeled bins, or 2 reusable sacks. The charges per year are as follows:
- 1 wheeled bin: £32* (plus £39 for the one-off purchase of a wheeled bin).
- 2 wheeled bins: £64 (plus £78 for the one-off purchase of 2 wheeled bins).
- 2 sacks: £27* (sacks included).
*These charges are subject to change.
Concessionary charges are available if you receive Council Tax Benefit or Housing benefit (excluding Council Tax discounts). Payments at concessionary rates can only be made by sending us your |completed subscription form and enclosing a copy of a payment book or a letter of entitlement.
How do I register or renew?
- Direct Debit: fill in and return both the |subscription form and |Direct Debit form
- Online: |register for the service or |renew your service (debit/credit card).
- Cheque: fill in the |subscription form and return it to us with your cheque.
- Phone: call 01372 474716 (debit/credit card).
We aim to deliver your sacks or bins within 2-3 weeks. Your year's subscription won't begin until you receive your sacks or bin.

What are my alternatives?
Composting at home is one of the best things you can do for the environment! It's certainly the most environmentally friendly and cost effective way of dealing with your garden waste. It also makes nutrient rich compost which you can put back into your garden.
You can get a reduced price home composter by visiting the |Surrey Get Composting website or calling 0844 5714444 and quoting SUR01L.
You can also take your garden waste to your |community recycling centre (the tip).
