CPZs

We administer on street Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) and Parking Places in Elmbridge on behalf of |Surrey County Council. The CPZs and Parking Places are generally intended to protect resident parking facilities, that might otherwise be taken up by commuters, workers or visitors to shops and other local amenities.

Residents who are eligible can park in the bays in the CPZ or Parking Place by showing a |Resident Parking Permit on their vehicle. Residents can ask us for daily |Visitor Permits that allow their guests and visitors to park. Each costs £2 and is valid for one day.

Residents can ask for a |Waiver Certificate (dispensation) or suspension that will allow Tradesmen and Builders working at their address to park in the resident bays.

Doctors, carers and health care visitors can ask for an Operational Permit that will allow them unrestricted access to park in resident bays. We require a doctor's letter in support of an application.

The arrangements for operating these parking facilities are governed by |Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs). These are legal documents authored and maintained by the County Council. The TROs say amongst other things, how enforcement is carried out and how many Resident Permits each address is allowed.

Generally a |Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) covers a larger area, the start and end of the CPZ is shown by large entry and exit signs that also tell you the days and times when parking is restricted.

A Parking Place is generally a single length of parking bay or bays, reserved for Resident Permit holders. They have a time plate that tells you the days and times that parking is restricted.
