Community Planning

Community planning is at the heart of improving the quality of life for those who live, work and study in Elmbridge.

Elmbridge is a great place to live, work and visit with a thriving community, however:

  • While we are generally an affluent borough, there are a number of quality of life issues which adversely affect us. High house prices make it difficult for many businesses to recruit key staff and, given our high level of car dependency, we suffer from traffic congestion. The recession will also have an impact on the borough.
  • As individuals, many of us are leading less active lives. This is having a negative impact on the health of our community and, unless we take steps to address it, it could have major impacts on our health services in the future.
  • Elmbridge is a safe borough, and while we have low levels of serious and violent crime, anti social behaviour and fear of crime continue to be issues for our residents and local businesses.
  • Climate change and the protection of our environment remains high on the agenda. It is clear that we need to 'think globally and act locally' if we are to reverse the negative impact that modern day living is causing the environment.

None of these issues can be tackled by any one organisation alone. Only by working together in partnership with the community can we ensure that the needs and concerns of our residents are met.

Sustainable Community Strategy

|The Sustainable Community Strategy sets out what the Elmbridge Community Partnership is going to do over the forthcoming years to ensure the achievement of the vision for Elmbridge in 2015. The aim is to ensure that the borough of Elmbridge offers quality of life both for current and future generations.
