Rowan Cole has lived in Walton all his life and has worked in the area. Educated locally, Rowan first became involved in the local community when he founded the Surrey Police Community Support Cadets in 2003, working to bring young people and the Police closer together. In 2004 Rowan was presented with the High Sheriff of Surrey's Award and in 2005 the National Crimebeat Award. He first became actively involved in politics in 2006 when he working alongside Rachael Lake in her successful election campaign in Walton North. In 2007, Rowan was selected to stand in Walton Central in the May elections, and while he did not win the seat, he significantly increased the Conservative vote. Following the 2007 elections Rowan completed an internship at House of Commons for a Member of Parliament. Continuing to take an active interest in Walton Central and the major issues concerning the area, Rowan re-stood in the 2008 elections and was successfully elected. Rowan has stated his main priorities are increasing youth participation in politics, sport and community safety.
