I would like to share with you a picture I took on Saturday 6 March 2010 at the unveiling of the Cobham Ring, Elmbridge Museum's newest acquisition. It was found in a farmer's field in Downside in 2008 and has been brought back to Elmbridge by public subscription. It is over 300 years old and was believed to belong to Sir John Vincent who was the Lord of the Manor at Stoke D'Abernon. It was bequeathed to a member of the Carlton family who lived in Cobham and somehow ended up in the farmer's field, lost until now. I think this is an incredibly exciting find and am hoping it will raise the profile of the Elmbridge Museum and attract more visitors. If you are in Weybridge please do go along and visit the Museum and see the ring. Admission is free and there are lots of things to do for the children with special events and activities.
