Refreshing the Independent Remuneration Panel 2011
Report of the Independent Remuneration Panel
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003, the Council has received recommendations from an Independent Remuneration Panel appointed in accordance with the Local Government Act 2000 regarding the allowances paid to councillors.
The Council at its meeting held on 7 December 2011, considered the recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panel of the Members' Allowances Scheme for implementation with effect 1 April 2012 and agreed that:
- the Basic and Special Responsibility Allowances for Members of the Council for 2012/13 should not be increased with effect from 1st April 2012, meaning that allowances have continued to be held at their 2008/09 levels.
However, the Council decided to defer until the 2013/14 municipal year, the Panel's recommendation that a Special Responsibility Allowance of £3,000 be paid to the Chairman of the Performance and Finance Standing Panel.
