Allowances for Councillors
Report of the independent Remuneration Panel
Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2001, the Council has received recommendations from an Independent Remuneration Panel appointed in accordance with the Local Government Act 2000 regarding the allowances paid to councillors.
The Council at its meeting held on 5 December, 2007, considered and ratified the following recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panel of the Members' Allowances Scheme for implementation with effect 1 April, 2008:
- the Basic Allowance and the Special Responsibility Allowances for the Chair and Vice Chair of the Licensing Committee should be index linked to the officers' local pay award; and
- an increase to the other Special Responsibility Allowances to a new level.
The details of the allowances payable for 2008/09 are set out below:
