Do you know someone who volunteers? Do you think they do a great job? Now is the time to nominate them for an Elmbridge Community Award.
The Council recognises that volunteers provide thousands of hours, in all types of roles, to improve the lives of people in this Borough. Victims of crime can receive help, befrienders visit housebound people, dogs can be walked and transport can be provided. All these types of volunteering are evident in the Borough and all these volunteers providing these services for free are eligible for an award. The scheme has been kindly sponsored by Procter & Gamble.

Message in a Bottle is a scheme designed to encourage people living on their own to keep their basic personal and medical details in a common location where it can be easily found in an emergency. Elmbridge Borough Council together with Woking Lions Club have adopted the idea and are supplying bottles to anyone who needs them throughout the area. Full details of how the scheme works can be found on www.wokinglions.org.uk . Supplies of bottles and forms are available from Elmbridge Borough Council Day Centres for retired people. Elmbridge Borough Council is pleased to support this scheme which provides a valuable additional safeguard for local residents in the event of a medical emergency.
